I have had so much fun this week creating a 30cm x 30cm Sampler frame of the Feels Like Frost Speciality Designer papers, which are a returning favourite on page 42 Christmas Mini Catalogue. (Do ask for a copy if you haven’t received yours yet) I based my design on one created last year by the fabulous Liz Yuille, of Old Stable Crafts, and am so pleased with the finished product. I am totally hooked on making these frames as unlike a card, you get to keep and admire your creative work instead of sharing it with others.
I used a Deep Box Frame from Hobbycraft to house the sampler and I will be running a class in September if you would like to make one. I will provide all the materials and instructions will be given in a PDF and via online Zoom session. Exact details will be out shortly, but get in touch now if you are interested as classes are filling up fast.
I also made a smaller version of the sampler using the Ribba 23cm x 23 cm frame from Ikea. These are sadly out of stock at the moment, but will hopefully be back in fairly soon. The design is very similar to the first one but is a little cuter as it is smaller.
I will be offering sampler classes each month, and the themes will change to reflect the seasons, festivals and events we enjoy celebrating throughout the year. I will be making a Harvest/ Autumn frame in October, A special Christmas frame in November and a Happy New Year one in December. Along the way we will make a Birthday, Anniversary, possibly New Baby and Easter samplers. They are very flexible and can be adapted to suit your own tastes and include family photos in addition to paper crafts.
The idea is that you have one frame on the wall that you regularly change the displayed sampler in and keep the others safely in a folder until it is their turn to shine. This way you get to enjoy fresh creativity each month of the year and you can keep adding samplers to your expanding selection if you wish.
