I hosted my monthly WI Card making session today on Zoom. Despite the soaring temperature we had great fun making up a set of four notecards and a matching gift box. This makes an ideal gift for someone who has been in watering your plants, collecting your post or feeding the cat while you have been away. It is also a great thank you treat for a hostess of a summer party or BBQ. The list of uses is endless and a handmade gift is always a nice touch.
The project is inspired by UK demonstrator Tricia Smith and consists of four matching note cards and a Mini Paper Pumpkin Box decorated to compliment the note cards. We used the Simply Elegant DSP, punched using the Rectangular Postage Stamp. Four were cut from each sheet of paper, then two were flipped to use the reverse side and these were mounted onto Basic White card stock. This was then mounted onto Gold Foil card and popped onto the front of the notecard.
To complete the card, hearts were punched from scraps of Basic White Card Stock using both punches from the Heart Punch Pack. They were stamped with a sentiment in Basic Gray ink to match the colours in the DSP and mounted on the front using Stampin Dimensionals. Just before sticking down the heart some gold thread from the Simply Elegant Trim set was looped behind catching on the exposed sticky dimensionals. this meant that both the heart and thread were firmly adhered to the card front.
Here is a close up of one of the cards to give you a better idea of the layout. Sorry about the glare in the photograph, it is difficult to avoid it when photographing cards with foil in them.
The Box was very simple to make. You assemble it by creasing along the scored edges and then simply folding in and tucking in the tabs at each of the ends. The slots are pre cut for you so it takes seconds to assemble. You can simply decorate the box top and send flat in the post for the recipient to assemble on arrival.
The box top was decorated in a similar style to the note cards. DSP was mounted onto gold foil card, the a Basic White heart was mounted onto a gold scalloped edged heart with the same gold thread used at the back. To finish some gold metallic pearls were dotted onto the heart.
We put four note cards into the box, there was room for more. We put the envelopes at the bottom and then stacked the cards in on top. People chose different sentiments for their cards, all from the Elegantly Said stamp set and stamped in Basic Gray. The beauty of the hearts is if the stamping doesn’t go well the first time you can flip the heart over and have another go!

Here are some other ideas for using the Mini Paper Pumpkin Boxes:
The set of note cards above were inspired by another fabulous UK Demonstrator Kim Price. The note cards below were designed to highlight the new In Colours for this season and the Basic Borders Dies. really simple cards but incredibly effective.
I hope you have enjoyed looking at these new ideas and feel inspired to sit in the shade, out of the heat and enjoy some quite time crafting.
